Upon graduation, O.B. Owens and 'Pop" Smith of the Alabama Sheriff Boys Ranch asked Randy about persuing a football scholarship. Randy turned down talks of a football and art scholarship and purchased partenership in his father's business Vest Body Shop.  He married his high school sweetheart on November 18th 1977 and built their first house the following year. Randy and Saronda had their first child,Chanda LaShae Vest, May 15th 1980, their second child, Molly Rhea Vest, October 30th 1982 and their third child, Jonathan Tobias Vest, July 3rd 1984.

Randy's Body Shop was opened January 1st 1985 and specialized in all phases of automotive body and paint repair. From writing estimates, negotiating with insurance companies, purchasing parts, scheduling, budgeting for new equipment and meeting payroll, to actual hands on of repairs were his responsibilities. The quality and integrety of his work earned him respect within the industry.

In December of 1990 Randy began working nights and weekends as an installation specialist with Doug Moss of Moss Audio Systems in Hartselle Alabama.  Here he gained more knowledge of design, interfacing and scheduling. Many of our area churches, schools and auditoriums have systems designed and installed by Doug and Randy.

In September of 2002 Randy was hired as Maintenance Supervisor for a brand new industrial manufacturing facility in Huntsville, Dura Coat Products Inc. A Korean owned company with international business affiliates.

Randy assisted in completion of construction of the facility and installation of all equipment. Today Randy not only maintains the equipment but performs, schedules, and purchases materials necessary for all repairs. His responsibilities include everything from the ground to the roof. He acts as a 'Special Projects Manager' gathering all information and cost necessary to implement a budget and scheduling for new projects. He is the first name on the emergency call list and negotiates many of the annual contracts and inspections related to a chemical manufacturing facility. It is a Class 1 Division 1 environment so he is very familiar with OSHA, ADEM, EPA regulations and NFPA codes. He has been trained or certified in many aspects of industrial maintenance including, Hazardous Materials Handling, Storage, Transport and Disposal.
